On Sunday 22nd of August the local council opened 32 new social accommodation apartments in the town of Sal Rei. This is part of the housing policy outlined by the municipality as a way to help young professionals living on the island of Boa Vista.
This accommodation has been built to reduce the housing problem on Boa Vista and forms part of the second phase of the project which began in 2008 when the National Police recieved1 6 apartments of types T1, T2 and T3.
The council, which funded the first stage of the building itself, this time resorted to credit provided by a French Development Agency.
This is a housing policy of the City Council, which aims to improve the living conditions and support the young professionals of the island and those who choose to live and work on Boa Vista. Besides the construction of apartments, the local authority has supported the acquisition of housing.
There is an further agreement with the company Armando Cunha to provide for the construction of 196 more units of social housing in order to implement a housing policy wgich will be more comprehensive, fairer and more inclusive.
