|Iberostar plans hotel on Boa Vista
Iberostar Hotels and Resorts closed 2008 with a total business volume of 836 million euros, a 3.5% increase over the year before. Despite the cautious stance the company intends to adopt in 2009, Iberostar is planning to open eight new establishments in Spain, Greece, Montenegro, Turkey, Morocco, Cuba and Cape Verde.
The multinational corporation has announced investments of more than 100 million euros in new real-estate projects this year, and will spend another 15 million to reform 10 hotels, all of them in Spain. The company’s corporate marketing director, Heike Genschow, participated last week in the 24th edition of the Madrid International Tourism Fair. According to him, the company is moving “carefully” into the new tourist season, which he classifies as “volatile.”
The news agency Europa Press says that Iberostar plans to open eight new four- and five-star hotels this year. In Cape Verde, the chain hopes to begin its activities with the Iberostar Boavista, a 4-star establishment on the island of Boa Vista, in November of this year.
