The Submarine Centre, located on a superb section of the beautiful Estoril Beach, in Sal Rei, Boa Vista has been placed up for Sale.
This represents an outstanding prospect for someone with ambitions to run and build on an already well established dive and water sports business.
Submarine Center Lda, was created on Boa Vista island by Atila and Rose, who arrived in 1997 after previously diving in the Red Sea area. They adapted the diving to the very special conditions of Cabo Verde Boa Vista waters and enviroments. It's a small dive center that can be run by two people. Atila is 40 years old and has 20 years experience working on dive on the field. Rose is 35 years old, with eleven years diving experience. They both boast a wealth of experience in Kite Surfing too, and their diving qualifications and credentials are available for close scrutiny.
Submarine Centre is promoted in the UK Bradt Travel Guide, and in various European publications in Italian, German, French & Swiss languages too. Internet representation is achieved through www.boavistaexperience.com, www.caboverde.com, and www.bela-vista.net.

Hi Brian,
They have a small daughter whose education is important to them, this prompting them to want to return home. They do believe that Boa Vista is about to "take-off", however their responsibilities have forced this decision on them!

shame they couldn't stick it out.
i honestly believe with the right positioning both on estoril and around the port/marina they could clean up any water sports, whale watching, trips round the bay etc to tourists staying in self catering in a few years time.
damm, if only i were younger, richer, mortgage free, better looking....... the list is endless but it would be the perfect job in the sun. |

Hi Brian,
It is a shame indeed. They are great people, and Atila is a good instructor. You are correct in what you say. The location is superb and over the next few years it will grow in line with the island as a whole. This business has massive potential and the sky is the limit depending on ones ambitions over the next decade.
I know many of our fabulous members have plans to seek out the Submarine Centre during their forthcoming stays at the RIU.
Regards
Jason |

hi jason
i have spoken to two different interested parties with regard to the submarine dive centre and they both had reservations about buying it.
first issue is the price, very high considering the assets of company and must be based on future growth potential. second issue is the possible entry of another dive operation in close proximity in the near future. third issue is the raising of money in the short term through property sales in the uk.
however the interest is genuine and these concerns are natural. this purchase would be speculative and thus in the current recession a step not to be taken lightly. in the short term i'm not sure if the interested parties will make the next move without incentives.
if there is any news with regard the dive centre please keep me informed. thanks, brian |

Hi there,
I was wondering if there are any prcedures to follow concerning setting up a business on Boa Vista?
It would be a business serving tourists and would provide a small amount of employment to the island.
Many thanks.
p.s I am visiting Boa Vista for my honeymoon in June and cant wait! could you tell me if there are any cash machines on the Island?

Kat,
setting up a business on Boa Vista is quite straight forward and relatively inexpensive if it is in your name i.e. you are the one director of the business. You will need a good account to apply for registration and set up a bank account.
With regards to cash machines there is no problem in Sal Rei or at the airport but they do not exist in the outlying villages. Check the website for details (www.boavistaexperience.com).
