Monday sees the start of a week of discussions about tourism, the economy, cultural and social development of the island of Boa Vista. It is the proposal of the local council of Boa Vista, to invite all Boavistans including many returning emigrates who will be visiting the island of Boa Vista to evaluate the future of Boa Vista under the topic of
"Participation of the emigrants in the development of Boa Vista”.
A fair in the Municipal Library, of diverse exhibits opens the week. Some local artists have been invited to display their works, of painting, photographs and pottery. The opening of the event will take place at 9am this monday 17th, and will be presided over by the head of the council, Jose Pinto Almeida. On the following day, also in the Municipal Library, an enterprise fair commences with many companies and institutions,including banks, insurance, among others, which will display their products and services in stands that will be installed there.
On Wednesday 19th there will be a musical spectacle in the Polivalente Djidjung, with local groups and musicians including Kaká, Juary Release, Toi Lino, Pontcha and Luiza Pintos to liven up the ocassion. On Thursday there will be visits to local works and projects. On Friday there will be a dance at the Disco Mazurka which promises to remember the old times, with traditional dancing and music of Boa Vista Island.
On Saturday, the emigrants will visit the main hotels of the island and will witness the placing of the first stone for the construction of a monument in homage to the islands emigrants. There is already launched a competition to be able to choose the best project for this monument.
The week of the emigrant will end on sunday 23rd, with a celebration lunch at the Social Boa Vista Club.
