On Tuesday 2nd February the mayor of Boa Vista, José Almeida Pinto, starts a tour of the villages of the island to get acquainted at each location with the problems of the local citizens.

Sanitation, urban planning, water supply and electricity are the main issues that will lead Jose Almeida Pinto to visit seven villages on the island of Boa Vista in this, the first round of a new style of "Open Presidency."

During each visit, the mayor will join the people to take stock of what has been accomplished and future prospects. The mayor is going to meet the residents so that they can put their concerns freely about their villages and move forward with suggestions and possible proposals for resolution of any problems.

The idea is for the major to get closer to the local communities and to promote closer cooperation among residents, institutions and City Council so that it is possible to determine the real and current situation in each town of the island.
